  • Carolyn Culligan

Carolyn has been training horses and riders since the early 1970s, from New York to Texas and finally to California. She started Old Canyon Farm in Topanga in 1990 and in 1999 moved her horse training and riding school to the Santa Clarita Valley, where she has found a wonderful home among local horse enthusiasts.

Her love and respect for horses forms the foundation of her teaching philosophy. She combines common sense with a thorough knowledge of correct horsemanship. Her students benefit from her sense of humor, compassion, and terrific communication skills.

Carolyn believes that understanding the strengths and shortcomings of her horse/rider combinations allows her to focus on the positive while addressing problem areas.

Old Canyon Farm's horse show results speak for themselves, and OCF's at-home program is equally as important. Being a professional horse show course designer, Carolyn keeps her students up to date with new courses - and new challenges - every week. Lessons, whether group or private, are informative and fun, and Carolyn always inspires her riders to take it to the next level.

As a course designer, Carolyn provides courses for over a dozen LAHJA and TVHSA shows each season at Camelot Riding Club, right in Santa Clarita. She will be participating in the USEF's continuing education program to further her credentials in this field.

  • What Our Training Clients Are Saying

In the past eight years of my riding career, Carolyn has brought me from a backyard rider to a horse show champion. I love and appreciate everything she has done for me.
